Unleashing technology and nature

For permanent carbon dioxide removal

“The deployment of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) to counterbalance hard-to-abate residual emissions is unavoidable if net zero CO2 or GHG emissions are to be achieved”
— IPCC 6th Assessment Report, 2022

We recognise the urgency to transition towards highly durable methods for carbon removal so that we limit global warming to 1.5. By striking a balance between the forces of nature and the power of technology, we are on our way to reducing 10GT of CO2 by 2050 and paving the way for a more sustainable future.

The EU can become a leader in next-generation clean technology. Carbon removals offer a unique opportunity for Europe to establish a new, world-leading industry.

Read on the important role carbon dioxide removal technologies can play in enhancing the EU's competitiveness, highlighting the sector’s economic potential, and what policies are needed to realise this potential.
